Jesus left us with the Great Commission-
to make disciples, sharing the Good News of the Bible.
How am I supposed to "go into all of the world"?

Good question! First of all, be a "light to the world" right where you are. But another great way is to become a WBS Teacher! You teach the Bible to people from your home town or all over the world, right from your living room or church classroom!

Why Teach with WBS?

Each year, numbers approaching one million learn of the Gospel through WBS . Of those, tens of thousands respond in faith and baptism to God's call! But it would not happen without their WBS Teacher. There are perhaps 20,000 everyday Christians teaching WBS students in 179 of the earth's countries.

So, first understand that WBS students need you. These are real people, with a real desire to learn about God. They have proactively contacted WBS or been referred by others for the express purpose of studying the Bible through correspondence. But this process cannot work without the personal involvement of the WBS Teacher. Other reasons for teaching with WBS include:
  • You can serve God by personally fulfilling the Great Commission.
  • You can experience the joy of sharing the Gospel-and seeing fruit!
  • You can work from home or with a church Bible class.
  • You can make friends-and disciples-from other countries.
  • You can involve others and your church in world evangelism.
  • You can receive you own copy of WBS ' Action newspaper-with exciting stories of evangelism from all over!

By the way, we also need WBS Teachers capable in Spanish and French. Contact us for more information. To learn more about teaching WBS in Spanish, please visit http://maestros.ebiblicamundial.org . (For French, please contact WBS.)

What are WBS courses like?

WBS Bible courses teach simple fundamentals of the Bible: God's Message of hope, joy, love and life is Good News to humankind! It is the Gospel, found in the Bible!

Course booklets are entitled:

God Has Spoken
Knowing Jesus
Born of Water and Spirit
This is Good News!
Family of God
Live a Life of Love (Read more about WBS courses...)

What do WBS Teachers do?

WBS Teachers (or "study helpers") are volunteer Christians, young and old, individuals and families. They provide the lessons to their students, corresponding much as pen-pals would. But they also share the Truth of the Gospel at the same time.

WBS Study Helpers:

  • send and grade WBS lessons to students eager for the truth of God's Word
  • provide completion certificates to commend progress
  • personally involve themselves with churches and missionaries around the world
  • encourage with (and are encouraged by) the written word
  • pray for their students
  • communicate student requests to missionaries and churches for follow up
  • continue correspondence-based relationships with their students-their brothers or sisters in Christ-and some eventually go to visit them in foreign countries!

As a WBS study helper, you do not have to have extensive Bible knowledge. The WBS lessons are easy to grade (though don't be surprised if your students pose some "interesting" questions for you!). It is enough to promptly exchange lessons with your students, write encouraging notes, and pray on their behalf. The time that the process takes is flexible for your own schedule-from a few minutes a week to as much as you like. But what God accomplishes through you with each precious soul-and your own personal fulfillment-is rewarding beyond measure!

WBS teachers can also be instrumental in boosting their church involvement in evangelism and missions. (Read more: Churches, Start a Program)

How do WBS Teachers teach?

WBS students have the option of studying with printed correspondence courses by mail or by email over the Internet. We need WBS Teachers to work with students in both media. Learn more about teaching with printed correspondence courses and with Internet-based email courses.

Teach by Mail

Many thousand WBS Teachers (or "Study Helpers") use hard copy correspondence to teach millions of students. WBS teachers and their students rely on worldwide mail systems to exchange completed lessons and new course booklets. Because a church or an individual teacher pays nominal costs for these courses, they are completely FREE to the student-except for the stamp needed to mail in completed answer sheets.
No matter how "wired" your community is, mail by parcel post is the way most people communicate over distances. (This is especially true in less-developed countries where most of the world's population lives.) Even as technology options proliferate worldwide over time, the venerable postal correspondence courses will likely continue to communicate the Good News to a lost world for generations to come.

Be a Study Helper via the Internet by Email or Online Web Courses

WBS was one of the first ministries to begin harnessing the vast power of the World Wide Web to reach the lost! And, more and more of the world is getting access to the Internet, whether in "Internet cafes," at work, school, or home. WBS Internet reaches out to the fast-growing segment that will choose to study the Bible online. Internet-based WBS courses take advantage of the Internet for more interactive and prompt communication with students. These are WBS' Master Series Bible courses adapted for email delivery or online viewing. These courses, of course, are also completely FREE to students (but for their own Internet access costs).

WBS Internet Teachers, like their Postal Teacher counterparts, help share the cost of the ministry so the millions of students can study the Bible for free. WBS relies on the generosity of churches and like-minded Christians. In addition to these gifts, WBS asks those who participate in the Internet ministry to join the Postal teachers and help share the cost of this global mission through a $10.00 per month subscription to "cast the 'Net" and spread the Good News. (Scholarships are available.)

Which WBS teaching method is right for you?

Why not teach with both methods! Consider these questions:

  • Do you feel more comfortable reading and grading with paper and pen, or from a computer monitor?
  • Do you like the idea of students having hard copy lessons in course books for future reference?
  • Do you have convenient, affordable Internet access?
  • Are you (or your church) willing to make a small investment on behalf of students to teach with printed courses? (For example, most WBS coursebooks cost 45 cents each, plus postage, to send to your students.)
  • Do you prefer more immediate interaction and teaching with your students?
  • Are you able to respond promptly to email communications from others?
  • What type of student would you prefer to communicate with? (Though it is difficult to generalize, you will probably find a difference in the mindset and socio-economic status between an individual with Internet access and one that has never witnessed the Internet at all.)

Decide for yourself: we are eager to have you serve in the way that best suits your gifts and interests-and is most effective in expanding God's kingdom! Take your choice- WBS Postal or WBS Email or WBS Web online.

We hope and pray you will choose to be a missionary by becoming a WBS Study Helper!
